It's been one disaster after another for an Edinburgh family. First, a devastating flood, now a destructive fire over the weekend has tested their ability to recover.

If you need some perspective on perseverance, look no further than Alan Bryant.

"We'll make it no matter what. My wife hates that saying but I've always said constantly, we'll make it no matter what," said victim Alan Bryant.

Over the past weekend, the Bryant's house went up in just a matter of minutes.

"My daughter came in there and told me that she saw smoke coming out from the garage," said Bryant.

It was early Sunday morning, and most of the family was asleep. Hours earlier they set off celebratory fireworks. The Bryant's thought they were completely extinguished when they threw them in the trash.

"Why, why is this happening to us again? What did we do to make this happen?"

Loss has become part of every day life for this family.

"God gives you nothing more than what he thinks you can handle," said Bryant.

Last summer 3 1/2 feet of water destroyed their home when the June floodwaters ravaged Johnson County. They hadn't even been in the home a year.

It took months of hard work and tens of thousands of dollars, but they rebuilt. Alan Bryant says he'll do again, someway, somehow...although both he and his wife are also out of work.

"Well, I've been told not to, but yes I plan to rebuild right here. I think it was a fluke. I think it's just part of life. You deal wit hit and you go on. You don't give up and I don't plan to give up."

The damage is estimated at $150,000.
