A 39-year-old Morgantown man was fatally injured on Monday around 4AM in a two-vehicle crash on Ind. 135, south of Bargersville.
A preliminary investigation indicates the fatally injured man was driving his 1989 Chevrolet pickup truck north on Ind. 135 when it was struck broadside by a 2008 Kia sport-utility vehicle. Johnson County deputies said the Kia was eastbound on Division Road, crossing Ind. 135 when the collision occurred. There is a stop sign for eastbound Division Road traffic.
The pickup veered right into a cornfield northeast of the intersection and overturned onto the driver's side. The Kia spun backwards 30 yards into the field through standing corn stalks.
Bargersville Community Fire Department rescuers cut the roof off the overturned truck to free the driver from the wreckage.
One passenger in the Kia was taken by ambulance to Methodist Hospital for examination. Two others were examined by BCFD medics at the scene. It was not immediately determined who was driving the Kia.
