WXIN-TV is expanding its local news programming, providing more local news than any other station in Indianapolis.

"This expansion continues our commitment to be the leader in news and information in Indianapolis" said Vice President and General Manager Jerry Martin.

Fox 59 will add an hour of news every weekday at 4pm and half hour of news at 4:30am, which will make the station's newscasts the first on the air in each daypart. The expansion will also add several new on-air and off-air positions to Fox 59's staff.

"When you compare us to our competition, Fox 59 will be on it -- the first on the air at 4:30am for early morning viewers, first with our midday news at 11am, first at 4pm and first at 10pm," said Martin. "We are committed to getting news and weather to our viewers as it happens, while also providing stories that are relevant to Central Indiana families."

The stations new 4pm newscast, called "Fox 59 News: First at Four", will be anchored by Bob Donaldson, Cheryl Parker and Chief Meteorologist Brian Wilkes - the team that's been together at Fox 59 since 1996, making them the longest-running and most experienced team in Indianapolis.

"Fox 59 News: First at Four will be on it, covering all of the day's big stories, brought to viewers from the most trusted team in Central Indiana," said News Director Lee Rosenthal. "Viewers can also depend on the Fox 59 Weather Authority team to track severe weather as it happens and provide the most accurate forecasts for our area."

The station expects to launch both newscasts on September 21st.
