An historic bridge in Rush County could soon make a comeback.
Last June a tornado ripped through the town of Moscow and destroyed the 122 year-old Kennedy Covered Bridge. The bridge, which stretched across the Flatrock River, was a source of tradition and community pride. In a few weeks construction of a new bridge is expected to begin.
"Right now they're cutting timbers and putting them in Parke County where Dan Collom, the bridge contractor lives, and in couple of weeks he should be out here and they'll start building the bridge," said Larry Stout, Treasurer for the Moscow Covered Bridge Festival
The Moscow Covered Bridge Festival will held June 26th through the 28th.
"We're hopefully going to have rides for the kids. We're going to have pony rides and a lot of new things," explained Sandy Farber, a coordinator with the festival.
If organizers have their way construction of the new bridge will be underway during the festival.
