The flood of June 2008 caused major damage to several communities in Central Indiana.
One of the hardest hit was the city Martinsville. Parts of state road 37 and state road 67 were closed because of high water.
The Potter family lives on Southview Drive next to a creek that overflowed causing the entire neighborhood to flood.
Brenton Potter explains the damage to their home, "It pretty much just got about 4 to 5 feet deep in the house. It actually floods it. We had to actually tear down our home, build up on the foundation 3.9 feet."
Today most of the home has been rebuilt, but it's far from a finished product. Several homes in the neighborhood have been purchased by the state.
The Potters plan to stay.
Benton Potter admits it's not easy, "We've had trouble with our mortgage company and had trouble with regulations and we're kind of low on money now."
Despite the challenges, the Potter family plans to keep their home.
