It happened Saturday night in Greene County, on SR 43, just south of CR525 N near Solsberry.
Two people were killed, including 19-year-old substitute teacher Jessica Allman, and 40-year-old father of three, Jerry Marker.
Allman's 19-year-old boyfriend and soon-to-be husband, Preston Williams is now charged with their deaths.
According to paperwork filed in a Greene County courtroom Monday, Williams and a friend had just fixed up his '78 Camaro. Williams wanted to race. His fiancé Jessica was along for the ride in the passenger seat, when Williams decided to pass his friend on a narrow, winding country road.
According the probable cause, Preston Williams told investigators he could have been going at least 80 miles per hour. He was traveling southbound. He crossed into the northbound lane and never saw Jerry Marker's red motorcycle. Investigators say there was an explosion upon impact.
Marker died instantly. Allman was rushed to Bloomington Hospital, where she died a short time later.
Now, Preston Williams finds himself charged with some very serious offenses, including 2 counts of reckless homicide and 2 counts of reckless driving. Two lives are lost because of what his grandmother told Fox 59 was a "terrible mistake." And one upcoming July wedding that will never be. Jessica Allman will be buried in her wedding gown.
Preston Williams turned himself into the Greene County Sheriff's Department Tuesday morning, and posted his bond. He is at home recovering from his injuries.
